The Library at the National Design Centre Sri Lanka
The library maintained by the National Design Centre is a specialized library in Sri Lanka focused on the field of design.
This library, which was started in 1988, currently has about 4000 books specialized in the field of design.
It includes information on new designs and technologies relevant to handicraft industries such as ceramics, textiles, cane and bamboo, jewelry, leather, wood, brass, batik, iron, and pottery. Additionally, the library features a collection of books on lifestyle product design, interior design, architecture, furniture design, industrial product design, and graphic design.
Moreover, it houses a special collection of books on Sri Lankan traditional art and craft, which is a significant highlight. The library is accessible free of charge to a diverse range of users including designers, artisans, entrepreneurs, university students, researchers, and anyone interested in gaining knowledge. The National Design Centre provides this opportunity to ensure that valuable resources are available for all. The library operates on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
